Stanford Invitational Tournament

Stanford Invitational Speech & Debate Tournament

VCX & VLD MPJ Sheets

Preferences will be due by noon on Friday, February 10th.

This year we'll be using a Mutually Preferred Judging system instead of a Community Preferred Judging system in the Varsity CX & Varsity LD.

The major difference in these systems, for those who haven't dealt with both, is that MPJ is based on the current round and matching the most mutually preferred judge between the two teams debating based on your rankings and current status in the tournament. This differs from the old system where the community as a whole would select the quality of judge regardless of the debate that was happening. This system looks to achieve a better judging match on a round per round basis according to the teams in those debates.

For this year we tentatively plan to use a 9 category preference system in Varsity Policy and a 6 category preference system in Varsity Lincoln Douglas. More detailed instructions on allocating ranks to judges will be provided when the strike sheets are released.

Here is how the tab room will be distributing your judges throughout the tournament, in priority order. Please keep this information handy, it will help you if you are wondering why you have the judge you have.

Preferences will be due by noon on Friday, February 10th. At this time the preferences will be turned off and you will no longer be able to access them. In the meantime, I will be sending out periodic updates to make teams aware of whose preferences are still outstanding. We hope this helps to encourage teams to fill out your preferences. Any team who wishes to turn in a preference sheet after the deadline due so at the discretion of the Policy and LD tab directors. They are under no obligation to honor your request for your preferences to be entered.
